The IMAX theater at Broadway at the Beach in Myrtle Beach will not reopen.

The company Burroughs and Chapin owns the property and says the closure was caused by the struggle to compete with nearby Carmike Cinemas.

B & C Senior Vice President Pat Walsh says they are currently meeting with prospective operators to take over the building, but no word on what may go into the space.
