A Pawleys Island man was found dead on the side of Parkersville Road around 12:45 a.m. Friday, according to the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office.
The victim has been identified as James Earl Richardson Jr., 18, of Pawleys Island.
An autopsy completed today at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston showed he died of a gunshot wound.
Investigators with the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office are asking anyone with information regarding Richardson's death to call them at (843) 546-5101.
