Unattended cooking started a fire on Nichols Highway near Aynor about 9:28 a.m.

When firefighters got there, smoke was coming from the home, according to Horry County Fire Rescue.

They had the fire under control by 10 a.m. It damaged the kitchen and the roof.

No one was hurt. The Red Cross is helping two people that were displaced due to the fire.
