A Hartsville man is charged with murder after a deadly shooting on Centerville Road Saturday night near the ball field. The Darlington County Sheriff's Office says 19-year-old Nelson LeGrant McDaniel, Jr. got into an altercation with the victim which led to the shooting. Officers are still investigating the cause of the altercation.
Darlington County Coroner Todd Hardee says the victim is 29-year-old Lee Edward Jackson, Jr. of Hartsville. He died at the hospital. An autopsy is scheduled Monday.
McDaniel could face more charges as the investigation continues.
