Phillip Price, who played football at Dillon Christian and Clemson University, was hurt in a fatal crash on Wednesday afternoon.
The wreck happened around 1:43 p.m. on Highway 9 in Dillon County.
Lance Corporal Sonny Collins with Highway Patrol says the victim was driving a 2006 Chevy Impala south on Highway 9 when it collided with another car at an intersection. Price was driving a 2001 Chevy Suburban north on Highway 9, when Highway Patrol says he tried to make a left turn onto Cashua Ferry Road in front of the Impala. The driver of the Impala, Robert Walker, 58, of Little River, was killed.
So far, no charges have been filed.
Price is in the hospital. His leg was broken in four places.
