Lightning may be the cause of a fire on Cypress Estates Drive in Murrells Inlet.

Murrells Inlet-Garden City firefighters were called to the home just after 2 p.m. Wednesday for a report of the roof on fire.

Assistant Chief Danny Lussier says it appears to be a minor fire.

He says he was on the Grand Strand long before Hurricane Hugo and has never seen this much rain in such a short time period.

Flooding is reported across Murrells Inlet.
