LAKE CITY -- Administrators with Florence School District Three in Lake City say they had to save more than one million dollars to balance their budget. Last week, the school board cut 24 positions, including 16 teaching positions.
Officials blame state budget cuts for their money problems.
The $22,339,293 balanced budget includes a 5.8 mil tax increase as well as deep spending cuts.
School board members say there was no way to avoid the cuts, and they're hoping to place employees affected by the reductions into other positions that may become available.
