Agero officials have informed the Florence County Economic Development Partnership that they will not be locating their new automotive call center in Florence.

The partnership's executive director, Joe King, says they aren't surprised.

The company was considering putting the facility in either Florence or Clarksville, Tennessee, creating up to 550 jobs.

King says Florence County presented three facilities to Agero as possible locations for the call center, but in the end the company decided a facility in Clarksville worked better for them.

King called the news disappointing, but said the community could look forward to a major economic development announcement later this week. He couldn't give specifics, but says the news centers around an existing company.

In January, more than 3,000 people turned out for a job fair in Florence County sponsored by Agero, many hoping it would be the answer to their unemployment problems.
