The southbound lanes of Highway 544 at Cabots Creek Drive near Socastee were closed to traffic because of a multi-car crash Thursday morning.
At 8 a.m., the driver of a Chevrolet pickup went across the center line and hit an SUV head on, according to South Carolina Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins.
Lance Cpl. Collins said the driver of the SUV suffered significant injuries and was taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. Two people in the pickup were treated and released.
The driver of the pickup was cited for Driving Left of Center, Collins said.
The condition of the person driving the SUV has not been released.
