United States Attorney Bill Nettles stated Thursday that Denis Osmari Ulloa-Funez, 31, was sentenced on Tuesday in federal court in Florence for illegal re-entry.

United States District Judge Terry L. Wooten of Florence sentenced Ulloa-Funez to 10 months imprisonment. He is also subject to deportation.

Evidence presented at the sentencing hearing established that Ulloa-Funez had been deported four times and was discovered at J. Reuben Long Detention Center on September 24, 2011, having returned to the United States without permission.

The case was investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) agents. Assistant United States Attorney William E. Day, II, of the Florence office handled the case.
