SURFSIDE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) - Three people were taken to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center after a chain of events led to a car crashing into a home in Ocean Lakes. The incident happened just after 3 p.m. Saturday.

Lance Cpl. Judd Jones says when the driver of a Dodge minivan experienced mechanical problems she hit a 10-year-old boy on a bike, hit two parked cars, then hit the porch of a home. Jones adds the boy and a woman who was on the porch were both taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver was also taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

It took Horry County Fire Rescue crews about an hour to get the scene under control.

Highway Patrol is investigating.
