Diversified Plastics Inc., a maker of material handling containers and carts, announced Thursday plans to expand its manufacturing facility in Dillon County.

The $2.5 million investment is expected to generate 15 new jobs.

"We are excited to move forward with plans to expand our facility in Latta," said Tommy Wallace, CEO of Diversified Plastics, Inc. "Demand for our products continues to grow and this expansion will allow us to increase our market share. Dillon County and South Carolina have always provided us with an excellent business climate and skilled workforce and we greatly appreciate all the support we've received from state and local officials."

DPI has upgraded its rotational molding facility at 1309 S.C. Hwy 917 West in Latta over the past couple of years and the company plans to further expand its operations. The expansion will allow DPI to increase the capacity of its facilities and will also involve adding new tooling for an additional product line.

"Today's announcement is another win for one of South Carolina's rural areas. We celebrate Diversified Plastics' decision to invest $2.5 million and create new jobs in Latta," said Governor Nikki Haley.

Last year, South Carolina recruited more than $4.7 billion in investment and more than 13,000 new jobs in the manufacturing sector.

"Diversified Plastics has been a part of the state's business community for more than three decades. Today's announcement confirms the company's commitment to our state and provides another boost to South Carolina's manufacturing renaissance," said Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt.

"For many years Diversified Plastics has been a thriving part of this community. With this expansion and the creation of a larger workforce, we look forward to years of continued prosperity," said Latta Mayor Nancy Brigman.

The company will begin hiring as new equipment is installed.

DPI is a plastic container provider for a number of markets, servicing the needs of the industrial, textile, hospitality, laundry, agricultural and marine industries. For more information, visit www.dpirotocarts.com.
