Officials with the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission held an open house Tuesday to release their findings from the HB Robinson Nuclear Power Plant's annual performance report at the Hartsville Public Library.
The report details how well the plant performed in 2011. Officials say they're no longer conducting additional inspections at the plant and are back to their normal level of inspections.
In 2010, two fires at the plant prompted some major concerns about the plant's operating procedures. NRC officials say Robinson has taken corrective actions by changing and updating their procedures. They are in the process of evaluating those changes to see if they're effective.
The NRC says last year was a good year for Robinson.
"The Robinson Plant as of now has no major safety issues. The plant seems to be operating well and the NRC is doing the normal level of inspections on-site full-time and these inspectors are supplemented by inspectors form our regional office in Atlanta to make sure that we do a thorough evaluation of all the issues and factors that go into operating the plant," said Roger Hannah, NRC Senior Public Affairs Officer.
