WILMINGTON, N.C. (AP) - A hearing for a former Army surgeon serving a life sentence in the death of his pregnant wife and two daughters at Fort Bragg four decades ago has been postponed a third time.

The StarNews of Wilmington reports that  68-year-old Jeffrey MacDonald wants access to evidence to do a new DNA test that extracts only DNA from men.

MacDonald's attorney requested the latest delay. A judge agreed to postpone the April 30 hearing to August or September, but warned he won't allow any more delays.

MacDonald has maintained his innocence since the 1970 slayings, saying he and his family were attacked by three men and a woman. His lawyer says the test that detects just male DNA is important because MacDonald should be the only male in the house.
