The NAACP has announced its support of a regional protest scheduled for Saturday, March 31st in Sanford, Florida. That's where Trayvon Martin, 17, was shot and killed by a self-appointed neighborhood captain as he was returning home from the store.

The announcement was made during a meeting of NAACP officials from South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi and Florida at the Raleigh Convention Center. These states comprise the southeast region of the NAACP.

The South Carolina NAACP will have buses to help South Carolinians get to Florida to take part in the protest.

Information on buses is available through the State NAACP at (803) 754-4584 or info@scnaacp.org.
