Harvey Cox, the man accused of faking his death to avoid a criminal sexual conduct charge, has pleaded guilty in Charleston.
He was schedule to go on trial next week.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reported (http://bit.ly/GIVZVm) that 60-year-old Harvey Cox pleaded guilty this week to possession of child pornography and causing a rescue mission without reason.
He will be sentenced later.
Florence police talked with Cox in January 2011 and planned to interview him about alleged criminal sexual conduct with a minor.
Several days later, Cox left his boat, wallet and truck at a landing in Murrells Inlet in January 2011. The Coast Guard, Department of Natural Resources and Georgetown County Sheriff's Office looked for him for days. Deputies in Florida arrested him in March.
The Coast Guard spent $50,000 looking for Cox.
