Horry County detectives have arrested Dominic Melike Bellamy, 19, of Longs, in connection with a stabbing that happened early Sunday morning in Longs.
On Sunday, Horry County Police responded to the 600 block of Freemont Rd. in reference to a reported shooting.
When police arrived, they found the victim lying in a pool of blood, in a ditch just off the road. The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
During the investigation, detectives were able to identify a suspect and learn that he had an altercation with the victim just prior to the incident. Detectives also learned that despite the fact gunshots that were heard in the area at the time of the incident, the victim was suffering from apparent stab wounds.
The incident is being investigated and more arrests are possible.
Bellamy is currently in custody at J. Reuben Long Detention Center and charges are pending.
