UPDATE: POWER RESTORED

FLORENCE -- Communications officials with Progress Energy tell NewsChannel 15 that power has been restored to 700 homes in parts of north, south and west Florence.

The homes were mostly along Cherokee and National Cemetery roads. Progress Energy says a problem with their distribution line near Cherokee Road caused the outages.

Officials say 11 homes near Francis Marion Road in Florence are without power, but this is a planned outage for a system upgrade. They say it has nothing to do with the outages from Monday morning.
