Darlington County Sheriff's Captain Andy Locklair says the three narcotics agents involved in a wreck Thursday stayed overnight at an area hospital for observation, but are expected to be OK.

The officers were hurt when their patrol car flipped on Highway 151 near the Darlington Raceway Thursday afternoon.

Locklair said the agents were in a patrol car headed to a call in the Mechanicsville community, when another car pulled out in front of them. He said the deputies swerved to avoid that car, lost control and flipped, but never collided with the car. Debris from the deputies' car did hit a parked car.

Locklair said the agents were responding to the call as back up for other narcotics agents serving a warrant. He said shots were fired in the air while they were serving the warrant so they called for back up.
