Florence City Council passed an ordinance to require property owners in downtown Florence to fix up their buildings.
Some of the downtown buildings date back to the 1800's, and some of them are showing their age.
Several streets are filled with dilapidated buildings with broken windows, chipping paint and major structural damages.
In the next few weeks, city officials will begin reviewing the properties and making recommendations to the owners for improvements.
Those who don't comply within a certain time could be fined.
City officials say they're willing to work with business owners and will provide incentives like facade grants and low interest loans would help pay for repairs.
