The father of Tyler Rauch, 21, tells NewsChannel 15 his son is making a great recovery after his left leg was trapped in a lumber machine for two hours, earlier this week.

Workers at Charles Ingram Lumber Company near Pamplico called 911 after Rauch's leg got stuck in a machine used to cut lumber, Tuesday morning.

Rauch's father says his son suffered a broken leg and calls his recovery amazing considering surgeons feared they would have to amputate the leg.

Rauch moved from the hospital trauma unit to a regular room, Thursday morning.

He's expected to be released in the next week or so, but his father says he still has to undergo extensive therapy.

Crews with the Howe Springs Fire Department and paramedics with Florence County Emergency Medical Services worked for two hours to free Rauch's leg from the machine.
