Studies say the homeless population in Horry County is somewhere between 1,000 and 1,500.
Groups that serve the homeless in the Myrtle Beach area have come together to provide better service.
The Homeless Coalition will serve as an umbrella agency for 40 organizations.
The group is meeting all week to look for ways to work together. They want to make sure they are doing what needs to be done and duplicating.
"We're not paving the way here there are other people trying to work on collaboration. In the non-profit world, everybody is talking about collaboration and partnerships because resources are getting fewer and the needs are larger," says Mary Jeffcoat, a strategic planner.
One thing the groups have agreed on is holding a unified fundraiser in November during homeless awareness week.
