An employee for the Florence Housing Authority has been suspended from his job after being arrested for DUI. Officials say he wrecked an SUV registered to the housing authority.

Police say Ralph Gettings, 59, crashed into a car on Claussen Road at Carriage Place Drive Tuesday night and later failed a field sobriety test.

Gettings was taken to the hospital for injuries suffered in the crash and later booked at the Florence County Detention Center.

The director of the Florence Housing Authority, Cynthia Williams, says Gettings is temporarily suspended as director of facilities management until she can get more information about what happened.

Gettings has been employed with the housing authority for 30 years.
