Johnsonville teacher a finalist for state teacher of the year

Taylor came to WPDE in 2011 from Greensboro, N.C., after working at WFMY News 2 and reporting for the Elon Sports Network.

A Johnsonville High School English teacher, Amy McAllister, is one of five finalists for state teacher of the year.

The winner will be announced May 1st in Columbia and will represent the state in the national teacher of the year competition.

The teacher will also get a one year residency at the center for educator recruitment, retention and advancement, and serve as a statewide ambassador from the profession.
