Six people have been taken to the hospital following an accident involving a Pee Dee Regional Transportation Authority (PDRTA) bus and an SUV.

The accident happened on East Palmetto St. just after 7:30 Tuesday morning.

According to PDRTA safety inspector Benny Mullins, the bus driver was picking up a passenger when it was rear-ended by the SUV.

Mullins says all six people on the bus, including the driver, were taken to a hospital emergency room as a precaution. Mullins says they were not seriously injured.

The bus was heading to downtown Florence.

We have not received an update on the condition of the person driving the SUV.

Highway Patrol is investigating.
