Horry County police charged Brian Lee Kuppart, 34, of Conway with Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature.

It happened just before 10 p.m. Saturday night. Police say Kuppart punched a man at the victim's birthday party on Quiet Street in Conway. The man fell backwards, hitting his head on the ground and immediately began convulsing, the police report says.

The other people at the party say Kuppart was not provoked. One witness also says the victim was epileptic, the police report said. They also added the two men had been drinking since 9 a.m. that day.

The victim was initially taken to Conway Medical center but then transferred to Grand Strand trauma, where he remains, police say.

The police reports describes his injuries as a "fracture on the back of his skull, internal bleeding inside."

The police report says the man's injuries could be life-threatening.
