(AP) -- The threat of additional storms today has proven to be very real in several states, including Alabama, Indiana and Tennessee.
In the Huntsville, Alabama area, five people were taken to hospitals and several houses were leveled today by what authorities believe were tornadoes. A maximum-security prison was also hit, and its roof was damaged. According to a Department of Corrections spokesman, there are no reports of injuries, and all of the inmates are secured.
Forecasters have been warning that strong storms could hit later today in a region stretching from Georgia to southern Ohio.
The storms come two days after a storm system killed 13 people in the Midwest and South.
