The second man wanted for a 2005 Green Sea murder is being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center, according to Horry County Police Sgt. Robert Kegler.
In May 2005, officers responded to 3065 Bethel Road to find the homeowner, Sheldon Watts, 66, dead from several gunshot wounds, according to a press release. The case went cold a year later after detectives investigated several unsuccessful leads. Watts' murder case was reopened in the fall of 2011 after someone left detectives an anonymous tip, police say.
Robert Evans, 24 of Marion, is charged with Murder, Armed Robbery and Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime. Police were able to connect Evans to Watts' murder based off the anonymous tip, but learned he was incarcerated at the South Carolina Department of Corrections at the time. Evans completed his sentence and was brought to Horry County on Wednesday. He is being held without bond at J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
The second suspect in Watt's murder, Willie L. Arthur, 46, was charged in December of 2011. He's also being held at J. Reuben Long Detention Center, charged with Murder, Armed Robbery and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime.
