(AP) -- Robeson County authorities say a dispute between a landlord and tenant over the amount of rent money owed on a business property ended with the landlord being shot to death.

Police say the body of 63-year-old Clarence Stephen Maynor was found at a Lumberton auto repair shop.

Investigators say they found Maynor on Monday after 61-year-old Hilton Oxendine came to the sheriff's office and admitted shooting his landlord a week earlier.

Police say Oxendine and Maynor got into a dispute over the rent for the garage, and that Oxendine shot Maynor. Investigators say he then locked up the business and never returned.

Oxendine now faces a charge of first-degree murder and is being held without bail. It couldn't be immediately determined if he has a lawyer.
