FLORENCE, S.C. (WPDE) - Three people died in a single car wreck Friday afternoon in Florence.
Emergency crews were called to the scene just after 5:00 p.m. on West Lucas Street in front of Florence Darlington Technical College.
Capt. Anthony Fox with West Florence Fire Department says the victims car hit a tree. He adds, "West Florence fire fighters extricated three victims from the vehicle using the Jaws of Life and helped Florence County EMS with the care of two other patients that were able to escape the vehicle."
Florence County Coroner Bubba Matthews says the victims are 25-year-old Crystal Anne Barrett of Florence, 24-year-old John Lee McKnight and 33-year-old Gerald O'Neil Byrd of Darlington.
They were pronounced dead at the scene. South Carolina Highway patrol is investigating.
