NORTH MYRTLE BEACH -- North Myrtle Beach police arrested a man who they say threatened to strangle a woman if she didn't have sex with him.
Shane Wesley Cook, 21, of North Myrtle Beach is charged with Assault with Intent to Commit Sexual Conduct.
A woman told police she was in the bathroom of Cook's home when he came in and tried to take off her bathing suit. She said Cook threatened to strangle her if she didn't have sex with him, ripped down the shower curtain rod from the wall and held it to her throat.
The woman was able to leave and found a friend. Police drove up and saw the woman crying about 11:30 p.m. Friday.
Cook was booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center.
