(AP) -- More pit bulldogs have been stolen from the Columbia animal shelter.

It's the third consecutive weekend someone has broken into the shelter near Interstate 77 and taken dogs.

Officials say five pit bulls were stolen in the latest break-in sometime before 9 p.m. Saturday.

Police say they have photos of the latest break-in, thanks to a new security camera. The thief is a stocky man wearing a hood, gloves and loose-fitting dark clothing. Police spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons says investigators hope someone will recognize the suspect.

Sixteen pit bulls have been taken from the shelter since Jan. 29. One dog has been recovered.

Police say the dogs bring a good price in the illegal dog-fighting black market.
