A campaign funding research for premature babies kicked off Thursday in Horry County.
The March of Dimes organization held a ceremony for the start of its March for Babies campaign at Beef O'Bradys in Carolina Forest.
Last year, the local Pee Dee and Grand Strand chapter raised $254,000.
The event organizer said the campaign brings much needed help to their cause.
"We have so many babies born in our community that are born premature, with birth defects and babies that don't survive, the March of Dimes is all about that preventing those things," says Crystal Hummer of the March of Dimes.
The campaign will end April 28th with the walk for the March of Dimes at Coastal Carolina University.
