Kimbel Library at Coastal Carolina University was evacuated shortly before 3 p.m. Thursday after construction workers hit a gas line.

The university's Director of Communications, Martha Hunn, says the evacuation was just a precaution and students are now being allowed back into to all buildings with the exception of the library.

Hunn says shortly before 4:00 p.m. faculty was allowed back in the library and says students will be allowed back in after the faculty is inside.

According to Hunn, Conway Fire Department and Horry County Fire Rescue are responding to the incident, and University Boulevard was shut down as precaution.

SCE&G crews clamped the line to fix it.
