Dozens of Grand Strand business leaders boarded a bus and headed to Columbia on Tuesday to plead their case on several fronts to lawmakers from around the state.

One of their priorities is building Interstate 73.

Mark Lazarus owns Wild Water and Wheels in Surfside Beach. Lazarus says, "I-73 is a huge priority. We need to get the entire state behind I-73, so when we take it to the federal government for the real dollars, we've got the whole state behind it, we don't have anybody that's against us, everybody's together."

Myrtle Beach Area Hospitality Association Director Stephen Greene says the Legislative Reception hosted by the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce is an opportunity to remind lawmakers the crucial role the area plays in brining revenue into South Carolina. Greene says, "That's what nights like tonight are for. I think most of the legislators around the state are recognizing the more you feed the golden egg that is the Grand Strand Tourism economy, the more tax dollars, the more revenues hit all of the state."
