For the past month, Horry County School Board members have been meeting in executive session to discuss security matters.
Media is not allowed into executive session, but board member Joe Defeo told NewsChannel 15 the district is looking to hire two new full time outside security experts.
Right now, Horry County Police has a school resource officer in each school.
"If you look at it, we have a sheriff's department and their law enforcement, but they provide security, and I'd like to see that same type of thing done by the police departments that are in our schools," said Joe Defeo, Horry County Board Vice Chairman.
Defeo says the changes could go into effect in the next few months.
Last month, St. James high school has experienced bomb threats.
Defeo says the security changes are not related.
