(AP) -- Columbia police say there are no survivors in an early morning wreck near Williams-Brice Stadium.

Police spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons says the wreck happened around 5 a.m. Wednesday on George Rogers Boulevard when a vehicle ran off the road and crashed in to a building and exploded in flames.

Timmons says it appears four people were in the vehicle but officials are waiting on the Richland County coroner's office to confirm the number of victims. There is no word yet on the age or sex of those killed.

Police have closed roads in the area for emergency workers at the scene.

Timmons says officers are trying to determine why the vehicle ran off the road.
