SURFSIDE BEACH, S.C. (WPDE) - A pedestrian died overnight after being hit by a car in Surfside Beach.
Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler says the victim is James Monroe Johnson, 50, of Surfside Beach.
Senior trooper Brent Kelly with the Highway Patrol says Johnson illegally crossed the road when he was hit by an SUV traveling south on highway 17.
Fowler says Johnson died at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center just after 12:45 a.m. from multiple trauma.
