COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley is unveiling her recommendations for the 2012-13 state budget.
The Republican governor is scheduled to lay out her first executive budget on Friday morning.
Haley has said tax reform is a must. She has said she wants individual income taxes streamlined into three tax brackets from the current six. The governor says the move would lower taxes for about 80 percent of the state's taxpayers and leave payments about the same for everyone else.
After years of budget cuts, budget advisers expect an additional $913.4 million in one-time and recurring revenue for 2012-13. That's because of surplus from the last fiscal year, more money coming in this year than legislators budgeted, plus continued growth.
