The head football coach of Green Sea Floyds High School resigned Monday.
Horry County Schools couldn't be reached to confirm whether Joey Still's, 37, resignation had to do with an October fight in the parking lot of Sugar Bears convenience store in Green Sea.
According to an Horry County police report officers responded to the store at 7:45 p.m. at 5282 S.C. 9 for a report of assault and battery on Oct. 29 where Still was listed as the suspect.
A 23-year-old man told police that Still appeared to be intoxicated when he and his 17-year-old girlfriend ran into him at the store. The woman told police Still said an inappropriate remark to her while her boyfriend was in the store. The man told police he saw Still leaning into the vehicle, and asked him to leave, but Still proceeded to head butt him and a fight ensued.
The man left after the two were separated, but later returned to Sugar Bears to call police, according to the report.
An officer spoke with witnesses who saw the fight and told police the man was the one who hit Still. Sugar Bears' manager also told police the man was the primary aggressor.
In a follow-up report, the officer said he would not seek a warrant to charge Still because of the testimony given by the witnesses.
