A machine caught fire at Wellman Plastics in Johnsonville at 9:25 a.m. Tuesday.
Liquid in one of the machines on the third floor of the plant had caught fire, Fire Chief Kerry Tanner said.
Firefighters were able to put the fire out within 10 minutes.
The plant avoided what could have been a huge fire because workers called 911 so quickly, Tanner said.
