A Charleston couple's effort to have their adopted daughter returned to them has attracted national attention.
Authorities removed 2-year-old Veronica Capobianca from her home and handed her over to her biological father on December 31st, under the Indian Child Welfare Act.
That federal law is designed to protect American Indian families from being separated. Veronica's biological father, Dusten Brown, did not contest her adoption at birth, but later changed his mind.
Her adoptive parents, Matt and Melanie Capobianca, are fighting to get her back. Their website has attracted more than 13,000 signatures on an online petition drive and over 3,700 supporters have signed up to their "Save Veronica Rose" Facebook page.
