AYNOR, S.C. (WPDE) - Horry County Fire Rescue and the SC Forestry Commission responded to a woods fire Sunday afternoon in Aynor. Firefighters were called to an area off Old King Street around 2 p.m. Within a couple hours the fire was contained.

Forestry Commission Public Information Director Scott Hawkins says they responded and 18 to 20 acres of land have burned. Hawkins adds the fire was caused from two kids riding on a golf cart in the woods and the golf cart sparked the fire. He describes the woods in that area as "ready to burn fuel."

HCFR Spokesman Leslie Yancey says several engines were on scene.

Crews will monitor the area throughout the night.
