Darlington County charged a Pembroke, North Carolina woman with pointing or presenting a firearm at a person.
They say they were called to a home about 11:50 p.m. Monday and found Bridget Villiers in the yard with a gunshot wound to her hand.
Deputies say a man acccued Villiers of stealing his handgun that night from the glovebox of his vehicle. The man says he found the .38 revolver near Villiers luggage and confronted her.
"When the victim told her he was calling the police she grabbed the gun pointed at him and said you're not calling anyone. The victim ran into the house and called 911. He stated that after he went into the house he heard several gunshots outside," said Sheriff Wayne Byrd in a press release.
They say that's when she shot herself in the hand.
Villiers was taken to the hospital and then to the Darlington County Detention Center.
