More than 125 people registered to take the plunge Saturday afternoon.

It might not have felt as cold out Saturday as a normal December 31, but a group who took the polar plunge would argue otherwise.
More than 125 people ran into the cold ocean this afternoon at the Sea Watch Wydham in Myrtle Beach.
"My feet are numb!" one couple exclaimed as they ran in and out of the frigid Atlantic Ocean.
Those in the group were taking the plunge to raise money for the American Cancer Society. It cost a $10 donation to participate, but some people raised more than $200.
"I just want there to be a cure," Dee Vereen, the plunge queen said. Vereen raised more money than anyone else at the event. She lost her cousin this October to cancer.
This is the second year for the event. Plungers say last year the water was colder.
"Freezing cold!" Andrew Duskey said. "This year was much better."
"This is beautiful. Last year it was 39 degrees in the water and now it's like 54. Look at all these people that showed up!" said Cathy Caoulon from Durham, North Carolina.
