Repairs to the rusted and worn down Barefoot Landing bridge remain on schedule, according to North Myrtle Beach spokesperson Pat Dowling.

At least one lane will open to traffic no later than January 16, said Dowling.

Contractors have removed rust from the bridge's steel structure and began putting a new coat of paint on the beams.

The repair project started November 14 and the contractor has 91 days to complete it. That means the bridge should be completely open February 13.
