(AP) -- The Horry County school district is home to two winning middle school administrators.
The South Carolina Association of School Administrators has named Dena Chatfield of Myrtle Beach Middle School the 2012 middle school assistant principal of the year. Judy Beard of Loris Middle School is the 2012 middle school principal of the year.
The awards were presented during surprise announcements earlier this month.
Finalists for the awards were assistant principal Jennise Knight of Sullivan Middle School in York 3 and principal David McDonald of Indian Land Middle School in Lancaster County.
The administrators' association has more than 2,800 members across South Carolina.
