Last Friday, Dillon Fire Station One Assistant Chief, Ed Edwards, underwent open heart surgery after he suffered a heart attack while battling a nightclub fire in Dillon three weeks ago.

We're told he is recovering well at this point.

Edward's fellow firefighters told us the surgery repaired four blockages leading to his heart.

Some firemen gave him CPR the night of the fire and he was taken by ambulance to McLeod Health in Dillon.

He was taken that same day to McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence where he remains.
