Parents Dana Shriver and Joy Jacobus are suing over a sewage problem that occurred at Delmae Elementary two weeks ago.

They say the sewage problem exposed their children to toxic agents.

The parents say as a result of those conditions, their children became ill.

Florence School District One board member Alexis Pipkins, Sr, says he has yet to see the lawsuit.

"When children may have been injured that is a grave concern and we need to ensure that whatever has occurred here that we receive formal communication from the district. We have not received any formal communication from our superintendent nor have we received any formal communication from the school district's attorney," said Pipkins.

The school district's attorney says the administrators immediately handled the problem and he will comment when he's served with the lawsuit.
