A man wanted for bank robberies in Myrtle Beach and five other states was sentenced to 26 life sentences.

Chad Schaffner, 39, of Indianapolis is accused of robbing the First Palmetto Savings Bank in Myrtle Beach in August 2009. He responsible for a dozen other bank robberies.

Scahffner was sentenced Tuesday in Tennessee.

The robberies were in Tennessee, North Carolina, Kentucky, South Carolina, Indiana and Illinois.

Schaffner's picture was posted on electronic billboards across the South after traditional investigations failed. Agents said the tactic worked because he was identified as a suspect within 24 hours of bank surveillance photos popping up on wall-size electronic highway signs in eight states.
